Tyler Emerson, Class of 2010 Assistant Buyer for Women's Shoes, Saks Fifth Avenue

“Through its curriculum and internship opportunities, LIM College gave me a hands-on approach. I got my foot in the door at Saks because I successfully completed my Senior Co-op there.”

Tyler Emerson entered Saks’ Executive Excellence training program immediately after graduating from LIM College, and he’s now an Assistant Buyer for Women’s Shoes.

He says, “The most exciting part of my job is seeing the complete product life cycle – from the designer to the consumer and all the steps in between.”

Tyler reports that the skills he acquired at LIM College provided a solid foundation for him to be successful in his current position. He cites Merchandise Planning and Control as a course that was particularly helpful. He also gained experience during internships at Juicy Couture and Atrium.

Tyler advises future LIM students to utilize all the resources available to them, including professors, classes, and clubs, and says, “To really succeed you need to be dynamic and adapt to change. And don’t be afraid to make mistakes -- they help you learn new things.”
