Terry Allan Burstein is the Chair of LIM College’s Fashion Merchandising Department. He is also responsible for overseeing the College’s numerous study and travel abroad programs and administering all new international initiatives within the Office of Academic Affairs.
Prior to joining LIM College, Professor Burstein spent 15 years in the fragrance and cosmetic industry working for top companies including Parfums Stern, Calvin Klein Cosmetics Company, and Avon Products, Inc.
As Group Brand Manager at Calvin Klein he developed the Escape for Men cologne and ideated the industry blockbuster, CK One. At Avon he was Director of Global Marketing and the Global Product Development Center, responsible for the development of global fragrance brands. He is the winner of four Fragrance Foundation Awards (Fifi’s) for new product introductions and technological advancements.
Professor Burstein has been quoted numerous times in The Rose Sheet, a leading industry publication for toiletries, fragrance, and skin care executives and in 2010 he moderated a panel discussion on “Who’s Making it in the Men’s Market: What You Need to Know” at the HBA Global Expo. He also authored “The Fragrance Industry: A Mountain of Mediocrity” for the New York City Economic Development Corporation’s Fashion and Retail Desk.
Professor Burstein is actively involved in international education and is a member of NAFSA - National Association of International Educators, the European Association for International Education, and the Forum on Education Abroad.
Currently a Ph.D. candidate in Higher Education Leadership at Northcentral University, Professor Burstein also holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Acting from the Actors Studio Drama School of New School University as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from the University of Bridgeport.
