Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Rudolph F. Lalak, CMA, CFM has been a faculty member at LIM College since 2003. On the undergraduate level he teaches the Accounting and Finance courses, and he teaches Accounting for Managers and Financial Management in the College’s MBA program. He has also taught the Entrepreneurial Finance course on the graduate level.
Prior to joining LIM College, Dr. Lalak had a 25-year career with JP Morgan Chase & Co., starting there as a Tax Accountant and ascending to progressively more responsible positions, culminating in 10 years of holding a senior officer position at the firm as Financial Director. His responsibilities involved managing an annual approximate tax liability of $2 billion and related reporting, including external financial reporting, bank regulatory reporting, and reporting to tax authorities.
The recipient of LIM College’s 2008 Distinguished Teaching Award, Dr. Lalak is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and Certified Financial Manager (CFM). He is a member of several leading professional organizations including the American Accounting Association, the American Taxation Association, the Eastern Academy of Management, the Financial Education Association, the Financial Management Association International, and the Institute of Management Accountants. He has also been inducted into the Beta Alpha Psi Financial Information Honorary Organization and Sigma Beta Delta International Honor Society for Business, Management and Administration.
Dr. Lalak’s academic research currently focuses on corporate taxation, earnings management, and corporate financial risk-taking. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Accounting and Finance from Trident University International (formerly Touro University International) and a Master of Business Administration degree in Economics from Iona College, as well as an Advanced Professional Certificate in Taxation from New York University. He is also the recipient of a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Fordham University.
