Student with Dream of Opening Her Own Boutique Turns it into a Reality Online
Tess Arnold applies knowledge gained in the classroom to launch essandtellie.com
LIM College junior Tess Arnold launched essandtellie.com – a website that sells contemporary clothing for young women – in June of this year. The site, which features apparel from smaller labels popular in boutiques (including Mono B, Ark & Co, and Ellison), also offers handcrafted jewelry made by Arnold and her best friend Meghan McDermott, another LIM College student.
Tess, a Management major from Baytown, Texas, says she always wanted to open her own store and “just got tired of waiting,” so she decided to create a website to get her start as an entrepreneur.
She also says that several of the courses she’s taken at LIM College have been very helpful in her new venture, including Multi-Channel Retailing, which has, “helped tremendously by teaching me that businesses need to have a presence on social media platforms… It’s taught me how to connect with customers and how to keep them interested.”
Tess’s online store is starting to get noticed. In fact, she was recently profiled in a front-page story in her local paper, The Baytown Sun.
