Assistant Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies
Daniel Chaskes joined LIM College’s Department of Arts & Sciences in 2014 as Assistant Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies. His teaching is divided between English Composition and electives in the areas of U.S. ethnic literature, cultural theory, and the twentieth-century avant-garde. His classes often explore the connections between literature and the visual arts.
Prior to joining LIM, Professor Chaskes taught at the University of Miami, Miami Dade College, and Miami International University of Art and Design, where he directed a college-wide effort to improve student writing. His scholarly work, which focuses on global themes in U.S. postmodern literature, has appeared in Journal of Modern Literature and Comparative Literature and Culture, and his book reviews have been published by American Literature, Modern Fiction Studies, and English Studies in Canada. He is currently at work on a manuscript about contemporary immigrant narratives.
Professor Chaskes holds a Ph.D. in English from the University of British Columbia and an M.A. in English from University College London.
