A Celebration of the Life of Professor Ron Knoth
September 21 at 6 p.m. in FashionOpolis
A celebration of the life of Professor Ronald Knoth will be held in FashionOpolis (in the LIM College Townhouse at 12 East 53rd St.) at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21.
Professor Knoth, who passed away on September 11, joined LIM College in 2007 as an adjunct faculty member and he became a full-time faculty member in 2008.
He was a dedicated and congenial teacher who devoted considerable time to supporting students’ professional and educational goals. He also had a strong interest in menswear, visual merchandising, and fashion history -- writing for a number of popular blogs on these subjects -- and he also wrote poetry and several well-received pieces on 20th century fashion.
In April of this year, Professor Knoth served as the keynote speaker for Fashion Now & Then, a symposium hosted by the Adrian G. Marcuse Library, where he spoke on the life and career of Lester Gaba. This summer, his own blog, thebespokenfor.net, received the Editor’s Choice Award from blogville.us and was also named one of the top 10 blogs covering fashion illustration by bloglovin.com.
Prior to coming to LIM College, Professor Knoth was the Assistant Creative Director for Goldsmith, LLC and Senior Case Manager for The Floating Hospital in the Bronx.
Ron Knoth will be dearly missed by the students, faculty, staff, and administration of LIM College. A scholarship is being established in his name.
Grief counseling is available in the Office of Counseling & Wellness Services at Maxwell Hall.
