Michael Londrigan offers assessment of recent developments at Liz Claiborne
Michael Londrigan, Chair of LIM College's Fashion Merchandising Department, was quoted in an article that appeared on The Wall Street Journal's website on October 12 about recent significant developments at apparel industry giant Liz Claiborne, Inc.
He said the company's plan to sell its namesake, Monet and Kensie fashion brands for $328 million, "give Liz Claiborne the ability to focus much more closely on a narrower grouping of brands that are still popular with consumers and that should help the company's bottom line."
He also noted, "These are positive moves for the companies acquiring the brands. It gives them more control over the brands and the ability to make sure it is right for their target market instead of having a company dictate the styles."
