Electronic Databases
The following electronic resources are available within the college buildings or remotely to users logged into CITRIX. These resources can be accessed from your desktop by going to the Start menu on the left, left click on "Programs", and select Electronic Research Databases. These links are to userguides only, not to connect with the databases.ARTstor has developed a digital library of approximately 300,000 images (architecture, painting, photography, prints, drawings, sculpture, decorative arts, design, and archeological and anthropological objects) and descriptive information.
Biography is a comprehensive database of biographical information on people throughout history, around the world, across all disciplines and subject areas.
Central Search is a federated search system that facilitates a search across all available databases and the library catalog with one search interface.
CQ Researcher Each original, non-biased report presents full coverage of a political or social issue current in the news.
Credo Reference provides full-text access to hundreds of frequently used titles typically held in the reference section.
Doneger Creative Servicesis a premier trend forecasting service providing "global trend intelligence, focused merchandising direction, expert analysis of the retail business and comprehensive market information."
Ebraryoffers full-text books in a variety of business-related topics like marketing (including plans and tools), management, and human resource issues.
E-Journal Portal is similar to Central Search, but allows the searcher look for individual titles.
EbscoHost is comprised of several different databases. These include: Academic Search Premier - a multi-disciplinary database providing full-text for over 3,000 peer-reviewed journals; Business Source Premier – a useful business research database including full-text access to periodicals such as Business Week, American Business, Review, Advertising Age, Harvard Business Review; MasterFile Premier – includes full-text for thousands of general interest periodicals; TOPICsearch - a current events database which allows researchers to explore social, political & economic issues and other popular topics; General Science Collection - full text coverage for more than 60 of the most popular science publications; and Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia – which provides more than 25,000 encyclopedic entries covering a variety of subject areas.
Encyclopedia Britannica provides access to full-text articles, images, maps, and links to academic journal articles and related web sites.
Euromonitor International covers world wide business statistics, including industry reports and company profiles.
Factiva offers full text searching of the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Washington Post, New York Times, and Business Week, Dow Jones and Reuters news feeds, as well as D&B business profiles and stock quotes (both historical and current).
Fashion Snoops is an online forecasting and fashion trend analysis service for young men’s, junior ladies’, children’s, and infant & toddler markets.
Gale Global Issues in Context is dedicated to illuminating the historical and contemporary conditions surrounding current social events. Resources are organized by issue and region.
Gale Literature Resource Center provides the researcher of literary topics, authors and their works a wide range of resources from primary sources to literary criticism and reviews in a variety of formats including multimedia.
Grove Art Onlineincludes articles on all aspects of the visual arts, images, and biographies of artists and designers.
Hoover’sonline has information on 12 million companies and has in-depth coverage of 40,000 of the world’s top business enterprises.
Infotrac is a collection of databases including Business & Company Resource Center, Custom Newspapers (for national and local newspapers like the New York Times), Health Reference Center Academic, and Twayne Authors (literature).
Lexis-Nexis Full text of selected national and international newspapers, trade publications, legal periodicals, and scholarly journals. Also includes case studies.
Marketline Provides business information on the world's leading companies across the Automotive & Logistics, Consumer Markets, Energy & Utilities, Financial Services, Healthcare, and Technology sectors.
Mergent Online provides access to current U.S. and international company descriptions, financial statements, and annual reports.
Mergent Horizon provides Internet-based access to detailed, accurate and comprehensive global company database. Detailed information includes: business description, history, property, subsidiaries, officers and directors, long-term debt and capital stock.
Proquest ABI/INFORM The combination of products forms a business database package that contains over 2,800 full-text journal titles covering business and economic conditions, corporate strategies, management techniques, as well as competitive and product information. Its international coverage gives researchers a complete picture of companies and business trends around the world.
ProQuest Entrepreneurship Search worldwide publications and multi-media related to the topic of Entrepreneurship. Intended to bridge theory with practice, the Entrepreneurship database covers a wide spectrum of resources useful to educators, researchers, students and practitioners. Content ranges from the scholarly - including journals, dissertations, working papers and conference proceedings - to a full toolkit of practical guides, templates, forms, sample business plans, and tips from successful entrepreneurs.
SRDS offers “comprehensive coverage of traditional media - such as magazines, newspapers, television, direct marketing and radio - as well as today's alternative marketing opportunities - such as online and out-of-home.”
Style Sight organizes Women's, Men's and Children's fashion images within a digital search engine. Provides “visual inspiration” as well as a variety of tools to organize, print, e-mail, download, and zoom for detail.
WWD This subscription offers full text, online access to Women’s Wear Daily, regarded as “The Retailers’ Daily Newspaper,” which covers all aspects of the fashion industry. In addition, the newspaper’s archive from 1994 to the present is available to search for fashion industry-related articles.
