Library Research Assistance
Students and Faculty are encouraged to contact the Library to request individual and/or small-group research assistance. The Librarians are here to assist you with your school and personal research needs. Email the Library at library@limcollege.edu for more information.
We are always open to working with instructors to give their student's information literacy instruction. If you would like to bring your class in, email a request to the library at library@limcollege.edu
Please include in your request:
- Your name, email and phone number where we can contact you
- Dates and times you would like to bring your class into the library
- Course name, number and section
- Number of students in class
- Copy of the class syllabi
- Name and description of any special project and/or assignment
- Any other information you would like us to know/consider when creating a specialized workshop
Faculty: past workshops have included:
- Fashion Styling I--how to communicate inspiration using images from fine art, popular culture, and select websites
- Fashion Fundamentals--presentation on library resources for the "Fashion Through the Decades" project
- Textiles--concepts, images, and text from the latest textile forecasting services (Trend Union, Style Sight, Doneger), magazines (Selvedge, Textile View), and historical texts
- Public Speaking--electronic and print resources, topic searches, and adapting APA citation styles for electronic media
- Research & Analysis--basics of finding and properly citing sources in the LIM College Library
- Professional Communications--the process of retrieving demographic, psychographic, and similar marketing information
- Product Development--research and use of forecasting databases for primarily online course
Students: individual research assistance in:
- Demographics and psychographics information by state, city, zip code
- Researching new or hard to locate fashion designers
- Finding sample business plans in databases, e-books, and in reference materials
