Eric Feigenbaum
Chair, Visual Merchandising
For three decades, Eric Feigenbaum, Chair of the Visual Merchandising Department at LIM College, has had a diverse and distinguished career in visual merchandising and store design, making his mark in both the professional and academic arenas.
A pioneer in advocating an eco-friendly approach to visual merchandising, Feigenbaum is now an internationally recognized expert and is responsible for conceiving and designing the state-of-the-art LIM College Green Lab - A Sustainable Materials Lab and Research Center. A first for both the industry and the academic world, the LIM College Green Lab will provide students and industry professionals with access to the most current and sophisticated eco-friendly visual merchandising and environmental materials and solutions when it opens in the fall of 2011.
Prior to joining LIM College in 2000, Feigenbaum was the Director of Visual Merchandising for WalkerGroup/CNI, an architectural consultancy specializing in retail design worldwide. In that role he helped bring visual merchandising to Asia and South America and was involved in the design of stores in South Korea, Japan, Chile and Peru. He was also a key contributor in the development and application of WalkerGroup’s proprietary service Envirobranding®, which promotes the physical store environment as an integral component of a company’s projected brand image. And from 1986 to 1995, he served as the Corporate Director of Visual Merchandising for Stern’s Department Store, a Division of Federated Department Stores.
A founding member of the Planning and Visual Education Partnership (PAVE) and the current Vice President and Chair of its Education Committee, Feigenbaum has also served as Chair of the Society of Visual Merchandisers and on the Retail Advisory Committee for Display & Design Ideas magazine.
He is currently the New York Editor of VMSD (Visual Merchandising and Store Design) magazine and has penned more than 30 articles for that publication, including cover stories on Bloomingdale’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, Armani, Moschino and Christian Lacroix. He has also written about visual merchandising for other industry publications, including Museums and More and Home and Garden Retailer.
Feigenbaum has lectured on visual merchandising and store design at colleges and universities nationally and internationally including the Fashion Institute of Technology, Parsons School of Design, Syracuse University, the School of Visual Arts, and the University of Rhode Island and he is regularly featured at industry conferences and events, including the National Table Top Association, the Toy Fair, the Gift Show, POPAI (Milan), New York 212, the NADI Design Collective, the International Retail Design Conference, VisionEast, and The National Retail Federation’s Big Show.
