1/21/2010 | 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
A Welcome Week activity sponsored by Student Life and the Center for Career Development
Fans of Teen Vogue should mark Thursday, January 21st on their calendars as they will have the rare opportunity to meet Amy Astley, Editor-in-Chief of the magazine that many non-teens read for its cutting-edge, very modern take on fashion. Unlike other fashion magazines aimed at the young adult market, Teen Vogue is known and praised for its mature and sophisticated fashion coverage. The magazine has helped inspire many a teenager's dream to enter the fashion industry.
Ms. Astley will visit LIM College to speak and sign copies of her new book, The Teen Vogue Handbook: An Insider's Guide to Careers in Fashion. She will speak from 6pm-7pm and the book signing will be held from 7pm-8pm.
Ms. Astley holds a B.A. in English Literature from the Honors College of Michigan State University. Prior to becoming the Editor-in-Chief at Teen Vogue, Ms. Astley was an Associate Editor at HG (House & Garden) Magazine. She joined the Vogue brand in 1993 and become Beauty Director the following year. Teen Vogue launched in January 2003. Ms. Astley was tapped to edit the new magazine in June 2002 by Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue and one of the fashion world's most respected editors.
