At this level, students will engage in activities focused on the identification of career objectives. Through seminars, guest speaker engagements, field trips, internships, shadowing programs, etc., students will gain insight into specific career paths and articulate their own career objectives as they align with their academic plans.

Students will engage in activities (academic, professional, personal, etc.) focused on helping them develop the skills and abilities to leverage their strengths and minimize their weaknesses. Through these activities, students will develop a career plan focused on the achievement of their professional, academic and personal objectives.

The Career Building Program enables students to have a meaningful work experience related to career goals and helps students find their way to a future in fashion.

Career Building Seminar (1 Credit)

The seminar expands on the fundamental skills developed in the Industry Exploration Seminar with an increased focus on building self-awareness and developing a personalized career plan.

Through a range of experiential activities (including guest lectures, field trips, shadowing programs, reverse mentoring and informational interviews) and in conjunction with their academic field of study and academic plans, students will build an understanding of how their personal skills and interests lead to fulfilling career paths.

Career Building Internship (2 Credits)

Students have the opportunity to participate in the Career Building Internship during any of the scheduled terms (Fall, Spring, Summer) to provide maximum flexibility and choice in securing the best opportunity to meet individualized goals.

Students will spend 10-15 hours per week in a corporate/managerial setting that provides the opportunity to experience the requirements of their expected career path. Further, through the internship, students will gain experience with the skills needed to succeed in their career path allowing them to better make academic choices.
