Industry Exploration Program

At this level, students will engage in activities including seminars, guest speakers, field trips and internships that are primarily focused on developing the students’ understanding of their current situation.  Programs are focused on students defining the industry, exploring employment, career and professional trends in the industry. 

Students gain an understanding of their own strengths and weaknesses and begin to identify how their personal strengths and weaknesses interact with opportunities and threats in the professional environment.

Industry Exploration Seminar (1 Credit)

The seminar will introduce students to a variety of fundamental skills, such as:

  • Resume writing
  • Interview techniques
  • Job search strategies
  • as well as provide opportunities to explore different and varied dimensions and directions within the fashion and related industries.

Industry Exploration Internship (2 Credits)

Students will spend 10-15 hours per week in a retail-based setting that provides a hands-on work experience to improve understanding of the nature of the fashion industry with a primary focus on where the customer makes contact with the brand.

Students have the opportunity to participate in the Industry Exploration Internship during any of the scheduled terms (Fall, Spring, Summer) to provide maximum flexibility and choice in securing the best opportunity to meet individualized goals.
