Sophomore Jena Glick reports on the retail industry's biggest event of the year
LIM College sophomore Jena Glick recently served as a collegiate blogger at the National Retail Federation (NRF)'s "Big Show."
Celebrating its 100th year in 2011, the Big Show is a major retail industry event that brings together the top players in the retail world. The NRF is the world’s largest retail trade association with membership that comprises all retail formats and channels of distribution including department, specialty, discount, catalog, Internet, independent stores, chain restaurants, drug stores and grocery stores as well as the industry’s key trading partners of retail goods and services. NRF represents an industry with more than 1.6 million U.S. retail establishments and more than 24 million employees.
Nearly 100 college students attended the NRF’s annual convention at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City and the organization enlisted a few to help them recap the educational sessions, share convention experiences, and provide a glimpse of the conference from a student’s (and future retailer’s!) perspective.
