> LIM Students to be Housed in NYC's Newest Student Residence
August 2008 -
LIM - The College for the Business of Fashion has entered into a long-term lease with Educational Housing Services for more than 500 beds in a new student residence at 1760 Third Avenue.
Scheduled to open in August 2008, 1760 Third Avenue, as the new residence hall will be called, will provide housing under one roof for all LIM students who choose to dorm with the College. Previously, LIM students were located in three facilities in two boroughs.
In announcing the plans for the new LIM student residence, Elizabeth S. Marcuse, President of LIM said, "This is a momentous development for LIM. With the opening of this new residence hall, LIM will further the sense of community for our students that our growing college prides itself on. It will also give the College the flexibility to offer housing for high school students from outside of the New York City area who attend our popular summer program."
President Marcuse has overseen a period of planned, strategic growth at LIM which has resulted in an increase in enrollment from 340 students in September 2001 to an expected enrollment of 1,300 for the 2008-2009 academic year.
LIM students will occupy 503 of the 1,100 beds available in 1760 Third Avenue. The LIM rooms offer double and triple student accommodations and all have private bathrooms, air conditioning, color cable TV with DVD players, high speed Internet and free local phone service, and many more amenities not commonly found in student residences. The residence also provides living space for LIM's Resident Assistants and Directors, office space for LIM's Residence Life staff, and a dedicated computer lab for LIM students.
"From more than 20 years of experience housing New York City students, EHS knows that the quality of the student life experience is critical to a student's perception of their college and their education," said EHS President, George Scott. "We're pleased to provide accommodations that enable LIM to bring all its residential students together under one roof, further enriching their LIM experience."
Located in Manhattan's Upper East Side, the 17-story residence will feature quality amenities, state-of-the-art technology and designer interiors, including:
