Winter in New York
December 2007

< back

As I am sitting here writing this it is almost December and I absolutely cannot believe it. Every time I write a new blog, I am always in disbelief as to how fast time has flown by!

Anyway, I am about to spend my first holiday season in New York and I am ecstatic about it. It didn't really hit me that the holiday season was approaching until about a week ago. I went on a mad search around the city for the perfect pair of winter boots (I found them at Aldo...on sale too!) and my search brought me to 5th Avenue. Usually when I walk down 5th Ave, I just get annoyed because of all of the tourists who have no idea where they are going...but on that day, I was too busy looking at all of the amazing Christmas decorations to care about the annoying masses of tourists. All of the stores had their holiday windows up and they are truly amazing and works of art and it just put me into the holiday spirit. Now I just have to figure out what I'm getting everyone for Christmas!

Also, I made it through my first semester of college! WOO-HOO! Regarding finals and everything, they weren't as bad as I thought they would be. In a lot of my classes, we had to do final projects, as well as take a written exam, but I didn't think it was that bad because I actually studied for probably the first time in my life. Whoever is reading this, I will give you this piece of advice...do not wait until the last minute to study!  Whenever you have quizzes throughout the semester, really study for them because then you will actually retain the information and it will make studying for the final a whole lot easier. Anyway, I totally beasted in all my classes and ended up with a 3.7 GPA for the semester. So of course I'm happy, but my parents are even happier to see that their money isn't going to waste LOL.

So besides anticipating the holidays, nothing else is really going on with my life besides work. As I mentioned in my last blog, I got a job at the Lucky Brand Jeans store down near SoHo. I was nervous to start at first, but now I absolutely love it, which is weird because I never thought I would actually love a job. But I really do love it. I do lots of different tasks, like putting out new merchandise, doing cash register, folding clothes, greeting customers, etc. It gets a little bit stressful though. For example, on Black Friday, I practically had a panic attack because it was so busy and they decided to train me to do the cash register for the first time! But I enjoy when it's busy because then the time goes by faster. Also, I love my job because of the area it's in.  There are so many cute stores around the area...There's everything from designer boutiques to little unknown stores to chain stores. It's a great area, plus there are always lots of celebrities around. For example, the other day I was walking to work and I saw Lenny Kravitz...he just walked right past me. Pretty cool, right?

So work is basically my whole life right now LOL. I just get up, go to work, and come home, because by the end of the day, I'm beat. So I'm going to go catch up on some much needed rest right now.

Talk to you next month!
