A Night Out: The Sounds and stylesight.com
January 2008

< back

So as I am sitting here, typing my last blog for the year of 2007, it is exactly 12:43 A.M. Why in the world am I typing a blog entry at this hour? Well, because I just got home from one of the best nights I have experienced since I started living here in the city and I wanted to write about it right away so I don't forget any of it.

So tonight, one of my best friends from New Jersey came to visit me that alone was enough to make me really happy, because I had not seen her since August, when school started. But not only did I get to see her, we had tickets to see one of our favorite bands, THE SOUNDS! I do not think I could possibly put into words how much I love The Sounds.  I mean, when we had to do a window display based on music for my Intro to Visual Merchandising class, I based my display on The Sounds, that is how much I love them. I had met the members of the band once before, but I had never seen them in concert, so I was uber excited to see them tonight, especially since this was the last show they were going to play before they went to Europe for a while.

So my friend and I went off to Webster Hall, where we waited anxiously in line for the doors to open before the show started. While we were waiting, a random guy approached me and asked me if he could take my picture because he liked what I was wearing (zebra tights and a red oversize sweater from American Apparel, my fabulous boots from Aldo, and my Betsey Johnson bag), and I was just like Suuuuurrre. So he took my picture and I felt like a celebrity or something LOL.  But it turns out, he actually was a fellow blogger, and he does the blog for Stylesight.com, and I am going to be on it. How super cool is that?

Anyway, I could go on and on about my night, but to make it short, I watched The Sounds play for an hour and a half, and it quite possibly might have been one of the best hour and a halves of my life.  They were even more amazing than I could have ever imagined and I had so much fun, just dancing and singing along to every single song.  It was great, and I would have never been able to experience it if I didn't go to school in the city.

So other than my great night that I just had, my life has been pretty lackluster. I am still doing my Work Project at Lucky Brand Jeans, and I still absolutely love my job. In fact, I am actually pretty good at this whole retail thing, as I am turning into quite a great seller. I have learned so much through this Work Project experience, and not only that, I have had a blast and I have met some amazing people, all through just working. I adore my job at Lucky Brand Jeans so much, and I am pretty sure it shows, which is why I am hoping they will ask me to stay to work as a part time associate after the holiday season is over, because I will definitely say yes.

Even though I really love my job and everything, I am also really looking forward to starting school again, because I am actually pretty excited for my classes. As my electives, I chose to take Creative Writing and Fashion Writing.  I cannot wait, as my ultimate career goal is to write a column for a fashion magazine, so I cannot wait to get back into writing all the time.  This semester might be rough though because I am taking a full course load, with 19 credits, plus I am considering having a job while doing it.  But hey, nonetheless, I still cannot wait.

I almost cannot believe that a new year is about to begin.  So with that, I am going to say goodbye for now...do not worry, you will hear from me next semester. I hope everyone has a great holiday and an awesome new year!  I know I plan to.
