So April was a pretty busy month. I saw Hairspray, which was totally amazing. I got the tickets through the LIM Student Life Office, and while the seats were sort of high up, it was still totally worth it. Also, I participated in my first volunteer event. I volunteered at the Fearless luncheon that was sponsored by LIM, Ports 1961, and Harper's Bazaar. It was pretty cool to see how many LIM graduates have been successful in the fashion industry. Also, the featured speaker at the event was Arianna Huffington, who is the editor in chief of The Huffington Post, as well as the author of several books. It was really great to listen to her speak because it was so empowering. She talked about how people need to just dive headfirst into everything that life brings and stop living in fear of what might or might not happen. I loved working the event, even though I was so tired afterwards, but my friend and I treated ourselves to some Pinkberry, so it was all good! So since this is my last official week living in the city, as I am commuting next year, I am taking advantage of every single minute of it. I plan to go to all the places I haven't been to, such as the Brooklyn Museum and the Strand bookstore. I also need to squeeze in visits, lunches, and dinners with friends. It's just nice to have some free time to actually do things in the city because I've been so busy with schoolwork this semester that I haven't really had a chance to do all of the things I wanted to. For example, yesterday was a gorgeous day so my best friend and I went to Central Park and spent the whole day there. We must have walked at least 40 blocks. We went to Belvedere Castle and Turtle Pond, and my absolute favorite place in the park, Bethesda Fountain. We also rented a rowboat and took a nice little boat ride on the lake. It was nice for me because I didn't do any rowing...I just let my friend do that. So my reflections on this school year...It's been a total roller coaster ride, but honestly...I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. The school year flew by, but I'm glad because now I'm just a little bit closer to graduation. I'll be around all summer, so if you guys still have questions or anything, just Facebook me or email me. My email is dklammer@limcollege.edu. Hope everyone has an awesome summer! |
