The Senior Semester

The Senior Semester takes place during the final semester of your senior year. This 13-credit capstone semester is designed to build upon your previous learning experiences and is comprised of three courses: the Senior Co-op, the Senior Marketing Plan, and Senior Orals.

The highlight of the Senior Semester is the Senior Co-op, a semester-long industry internship. You will work full-time Monday through Thursday for a minimum of 28 hours a week. Because they have gained direct experience in most areas of fashion through previous Work Projects, Field Trips and Fashion Survey experiences, our seniors know where they want to do their Co-ops.

The Co-op semester is documented in a work-related journal. This is your chance to apply the concepts you've learned in the classroom to practical field experience. At semester's end all students give a presentation highlighting their experiences and achievements and submit their journals for review.

Opportunities are available in all areas of the industry, from showroom sales to public relations, buying to visual merchandising, and many other fields. Each Friday during the Senior Semester you will attend the Senior Marketing Plan class. This course focuses on a group project designed to capitalize on the extensive learning of your past four years. Your knowledge of fashion and marketing will be tapped as you and your team devise a marketing strategy for a product or service. Through research and analysis your team will create a comprehensive marketing plan. At the end of the semester at Senior Orals each group will give a professional presentation of their marketing plan.
