To ensure that you can enroll in the courses you want to take we encourage you to register online. However, a mail-in registration form is also available.

By participating in LIM's summer program for high school students, you will begin to acquire the knowledge and skills you need to enter the fashion industry as you study the business of fashion with talented professionals. You'll explore first-hand many of the exciting career opportunities the fashion industry offers.

All courses are one week long (Monday through Friday) for three hours each day. Morning classes are held 9:30 am - 12:30 pm. Afternoon classes are held 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm. Take up to eight courses and have a truly fashionable summer!

BEHIND THE SCENES: FASHION FIELD TRIPS
Each day features a different field trip. You'll visit fashion insiders on their own turf. Buyers, publicists, trend spotters, stylists and manufacturers will give you the scoop on their careers and what it takes to get ahead. (Dress Code: No jeans, flip flops, tank tops, shorts, sneakers or bare midriffs) (Materials Fee - $12)

THE BUSINESS OF BEING BEAUTIFUL
Learn what it takes to create a new cosmetic product. You'll hear from an industry insider, participate in a market research study, and develop your own concept for the next great beauty product. (basic knowledge of PowerPoint helpful)

CELEBRITY STYLING
Interested in styling celebrities for media, fashion events, and the red carpet? Topics covered will include: borrowing samples, doing fittings, and collaborating with the hair and make-up team.

EVENT PLANNING
Discover the world of event planning and its role in fashion. You'll learn what steps are involved in the planning and execution of a fashion industry happening and will have the opportunity to develop an actual event.

FASHION ACCESSORIES
Do you love handbags and shoes?  Learn about the exciting accessories business - everything from designer originals to knock-offs - and discover how accessories make the ultimate fashion statement.

FASHION BRANDING
Trace the history of brands and branding in fashion. Learn the basics of branding strategy, brand components and how and why brands must constantly be reviewed and adjusted.

FASHION BUYING
Buyers travel the world as they select merchandise. Learn about this process as you analyze fashion trends and discover why people buy the clothes they do.

FASHION MAGAZINES I (pre-requisite to Fashion Magazines II)
Harper's Bazaar, Vogue, Elle and Essence are just a few of the titles you will learn about as industry professionals teach you how fashion magazines operate.

FASHION MAGAZINES II (pre-requisite - Fashion Magazines I)
Create the prototype for your own fashion magazine. Develop covers, editorials, features and interviews to fit the needs of your reader.

FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY
Learn about photography in the fashion industry. This hands-on course will cover lighting, composition and balance, model casting, location scouting, and film editing. (You do not need to own a camera to enroll in this course.)

FASHION POLICE
Have an eye for what to wear - and what NOT to wear? This class will travel to NYC neighborhoods to uncover what's hot. Learn to spot a trend and predict what colors and styles will become popular. You'll also create a photo journal of your "detective work."

FASHION SHOW PRODUCTION

Learn about marketing communications and promotion management and how to create an integrated marketing campaign. You'll be introduced to the fundamentals of advertising, public relations and direct marketing.

PHOTOSHOP AND ILLUSTRATOR FOR FASHION
Do you want to design your own clothes? Learn the basics of Photoshop and Illustrator for fashion and begin creating your own designs with apparel software.

PREDICTING FASHION TRENDS
Find out how trends are tracked to forecast fashion. Learn to gather and analyze the information you need to stay on fashion's cutting edge.

SPORTS MARKETING AND FASHION
Tiger Woods and Maria Sharapova for Nike, Reggie Bush for Adidas. Learn how your favorite teams, athletes and sports events make their way into popular fashion and influence what you wear during your own workout.

THIS IS FASHION
Get an inside look at the fashion business from industry professionals. Learn about merchandising, retailing and forecasting and their role in the creation of a fashion line.

Do hands-on work with mannequins, props and display cases. Learn basic design principles and how to apply them in presenting merchandise to make a fashion statement.

WHO'S WHO IN FASHION
Marc Jacobs, Zac Posen, and Stella McCartney are a few of the hottest designers working in fashion today. Learn about past and current designers and how they've influenced the industry.
