Fashion Survey

Fashion Survey is a two-part course for freshmen and sophomores. It offers students the opportunity to hear about the excitement and challenges of working in the fashion industry first-hand.

Each week a different fashion executive visits LIM as a guest lecturer. These presenters are drawn from various area of the industry, including public relations, visual merchandising, buying, product development, marketing, and publishing.

The unique benefit of Fashion Survey is the interaction LIM students have with industry professionals. Lecturers share a behind-the-scenes look into the real world of fashion. They talk about the company they work for and what their job responsibilities are, allowing LIM students to learn about the vast career opportunities in the business of fashion.

Fashion Survey speakers have included:

  • Atoosa Rubenstein, Editor-in-Chief, Seventeen magazine
  • Sandra Wilson, Fashion Director - Accessories, Neiman Marcus
  • Mary Gehlhar, Fashion Director, GenArt
  • Melissa Lefere-Cobb, Vice President of Merchandising, Oscar de la Renta
