Residence Hall Guest Policy

Regardless of the length of stay, the guest is expected to abide by all College, building, policies, procedures, regulations and standards and New York State laws. The host is responsible for the actions of his/her guests at all times. Any guest who violates any building policy or state laws while in student housing or other areas is subject to State of New York penalties and will be asked to leave the residence hall. All guests must register at the security desk by signing the registration book and by leaving a valid form of current identification for the resident and the guest (must be a valid, unexpired photo ID). Guests without proper identification are not permitted. The propriety and sufficiency of the identification is within the sole discretion of the building. Upon departure, guests must sign out at the same place. The resident must escort guests in and out of the building and is responsible for the guest signing in and out. Guests may not be in the residence hall if they are not accompanied by his or her resident host.

Guests (accompanied by a resident) are permitted only during the following hours:
Sunday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 12 a.m.
Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m.

Overnight Guest Policy

Overnight guests are permitted as a courtesy to residents. Arrangements must be made with the Residence Office in advance for one guest to stay for no more than three nights in one week. Overnight guests will not be permitted within the first week following August move-in. Each resident may have a single overnight guest (with prior written approval from the Residence Office). Residents may host two guests for one night by using two of their allotted seven nights (2 guests for 3 nights = 6 nights).  However, no room can have more than two guests at any given time. In any event, a resident may have an overnight guest no more than seven (7) nights in any month. In addition, a resident may not have an overnight guest for more than three consecutive nights without prior approval from the Residence Staff. There are no fees for an overnight guest the first three (3) nights. A guest who stays from 4 to 7 nights must pay $20 per day. No guest may stay longer than 7 consecutive nights.

A Visitors Request Form must be completed and turned into the Residence Office, where the visitor fee will be collected prior to the arrival of the guest if approved.  A completed form includes written consent from all roommates and must be handed in to the office, during office hours, at least 24 hours in advance of the guest's arrival. A valid photo ID must be left at the front desk during the duration of the visitor's stay. Guests must always be accompanied by the resident host at all times while in the building.

Guest forms must be turned in at least 24 hours in advance. Weekend guest forms MUST be turned in no later than noon on Fridays. Guests will not be permitted without proper paperwork.
