Outside Scholarships:
We encourage all students to actively look for and apply to outside organizations for additional scholarship assistance. The Office of Student Financial Services along with the LIM Writing Center sponsors scholarship workshops to assist students with their applications and scholarship essays. We also provide students with individual advice and guidance in their scholarship search. The following are reputable and free online scholarship search services that students are encouraged to use as a resource to help in finding appropriate scholarships to apply for:

Private/Alternative Education Loans:

Alternative Private Student Loans are available for students who need to borrow additional funds beyond their federal loan limits or who are not eligible for federal aid. These loans are credit-based and typically require that students apply with a credit-worthy co-signer for approval. To determine which lender(s) offer the best terms and conditions for you, we recommend that you utilize the following comprehensive lender comparison sites:

Private loans do accrue interest while a student is in school and typically represent the most expensive form of college financing. As such, we strongly encourage all students and parents to consult with the Office of Student Financial Services prior to applying for an alternative education loan, to ensure that you have explored all other financing and payment options first. Please note, in accordance with New York State and Federal recommendations, we will not certify a private student loan unless you have first applied for and accepted your eligible federal Stafford Loan(s).
