The Writing Center

The Writing Center serves as a resource center and tutoring facility for all students who attend LIM.  The Writing Center offers support to help students fulfill their academic potential by providing a wide range of services, including Peer Tutoring, Student Workshops, and individualized assessment of student writing. Additionally, the Writing Center strives to help students effectively express themselves through written and oral communication, and to stimulate students' interest in the writing process.

Location:
The Writing Center is located at 216 E. 45th Street, on the 3rd floor. 

Hours:
Writing Center hours are 8 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday.

The Writing Center offers tutoring daily in Developmental English, English Composition I and II, Speech I and II, Liberal Arts electives, and all reading- and writing- related issues in Fashion, Marketing, Management, Professional Electives, Junior and Senior courses.

The Center also provides assistance with resumes and cover letters, APA documentation style, research papers and business reports.

In addition, the Writing Center offers a variety of workshops for students, as well as Community Offerings for the entire LIM community.

Workshops include:

  • Mastering the 10-Page Paper
  • Music Poetry; Journal Writing
  • APA Documentation Style
  • Writing Scholarship Essays
  • "Speak Up & Get Noticed," a workshop on developing class participation and networking skills

Community Offerings include a series entitled "Meet the Writer," featuring authors from both in and outside the College.
