You’re likely to have a lot of questions about applying to LIM College as an international student. Here are answers to some of the questions we hear most often; for more information, please contact us.
What degrees and majors does LIM College offer?
Students at LIM College choose from several degree programs and majors in the fashion industry:
- BBA (four-year degree) in Fashion Merchandising, Marketing, Management, or Visual Merchandising
- BPS (four-year degree) in Fashion Merchandising
- AAS (two-year degree) in Fashion Merchandising
- AOS (two-year degree) in Fashion Merchandising
- MBA (graduate degree) with tracks in Entrepreneurship or Fashion Management
- Master of Professional Studies (MPS) (graduate degree) in Fashion Merchandising and Retail Management (can be completed online starting Fall 2013)
Where is LIM College located?
LIM College has four academic buildings located about a 10 minute-walk from each other in Manhattan’s famous Midtown East district. Our ultra-modern residence hall is on the Upper East Side.

What organizations accredit LIM College?
LIM College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The College’s MBA, bachelor’s and associate degree programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). LIM College’s Master of Professional Studies in Fashion Merchandising and Retail Management (MPS) degree program is in candidacy for accreditation by the ACBSP. How big is LIM College?
As of Fall 2012, LIM College had approximately 1,500 undergraduate students and approximately 80 graduate students. The student to faculty ratio is 9 to 1, and the average class size is 17. For more details, see LIM College at a Glance.
Is housing available?
Yes. LIM College’s state-of-the-art residence hall on the Upper East Side of Manhattan provides our students with first-class housing.
Is housing guaranteed?
LIM College housing policy is on a first come-first serve basis. That being said, no student who has ever submitted their paperwork in a timely manner has been turned away.
How do I apply to LIM College as an international student?

Is an interview required for international students?
Yes. All International applicants must complete an interview, either in person or by phone or Skype. Once you have submitted all of your application materials, you should contact the Office of Admissions to set up an appointment.
Is a portfolio required for admission?
No, LIM College does not require a portfolio. However, we recommend that students gain some experience in business or fashion and submit an activity sheet.
What is the minimum GPA to get in to LIM College?
There is no minimum GPA required for admission, but the average LIM College student has a solid "B" average (a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale).
If I am accepted, can I defer my decision?
Yes. LIM College allows students to defer their enrollment for one semester.
When can I enter LIM College?
LIM College has two start dates per year: the fall semester, which usually begins toward the end of August, and the spring semester, which usually begins toward the end of January. International students can apply for admission for both semesters. Please check our Academic Calendar for more details.
How can I visit LIM College?
There are a number of ways to visit LIM College including Open Houses, Info Sessions, and private visits. A great way for international students to explore LIM College further is by attending one of our online information sessions.
What is the annual tuition for LIM College?
Undergraduate tuition for the 2012-2013 academic year is US$22,420. Tuition does not include housing or books. Housing is approximately an additional US$15,850. These costs do not include fees and estimated living expenses. For more details, see Tuition, Fees, & Financial Aid.
Is financial aid available for international students?
International students are not eligible for federal or state aid; however, all students may apply for a private student loan (with an eligible co-signer) and are eligible to be considered for LIM College merit scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $3,500 per year. Students who are eligible for merit scholarships will be notified at the time of acceptance.
How do I make payments to LIM College?
You can make tuition and other payments to LIM College by wire transfer or a check drawn on a U.S. bank. If you plan on paying by wire transfer you must first contact our Office of Student Financial Services for details.
I’ve been accepted to LIM College. Now what?
First, secure your seat in the upcoming class by sending in your tuition deposit and agreement. Next, begin the process of securing your visa. Please check our Accepted International Students page for more information.
When will I be sent my visa application?
Students are sent the I-20 visa application and Tuition Agreement Form with their acceptance packet. Students must first fill out and return the Tuition Agreement along with the $400 tuition deposit before LIM College will process the visa application.
Can international students attend LIM College part-time?
No. In order to qualify for an F-1 student visa, international students must be full-time status.
