LIM College Students Receive Scholarships from the National Association of Retail Buyers
Three seniors aspire to careers in buying
LIM College has been awarded one of the two $5,000 inaugural Tracy Barlow Memorial Scholarships given by the National Association of Retail Buyers. Three seniors, Nicole Flasch-Mihalko, Jenna Lippi and Alyssa Izzo, will receive scholarship funds.
Nicole Flasch-Mihalko is currently completing her Senior Co-Op as a buying intern at Barneys. She says, “It feels great to be recognized by the National Association of Retail Buyers because it shows me that my hard work is paying off and it validates my decision to proceed with a career path that I love.”
All three students were in Professor Marla Greene’s Advanced Buying and Planning course last semester. They were selected to receive the scholarship based on essays they wrote about why they wanted to become a buyer or planner.
Says Izzo, “After graduation I hope to go into a buying executive training program for a major retailer where I can continue to learn and develop my skills.”
Adds Lippi, “This scholarship will help me reach my goals of graduating and moving forward into an entry-level buying position. I graduate in January of 2012, which means I will be pursuing my dreams very soon.”
