LIM College Student Receives Free Your Star Foundation Scholarship

Naimah Bennet demonstrates drive to help teens within her community

The Free Your Star Foundation has awarded a $1,000 scholarship to LIM College student Roann Naimah Bennet (pictured at left). Naimah received the scholarship after wowing the selection committee with her drive and clear vision of how to help teens within her community.

Brooklyn-born Naimah has an impressive background -- graduating from high school among the top of her class, being accepted into a coveted NYSE mentorship program, and pursuing her dreams by leaving a career in banking to becoming an independent college student studying the business of fashion. And she did all of this as a single parent to two sons.

In addition to the scholarship funds, The Free Your Star Foundation is giving Naimah a chance to be mentored by their executive team, and to herself become a mentor to high school students. Naimah is a Fashion Merchandising major and expects to graduate in 2013.

The Free Your Star Foundation was founded by LIM College alumna Sahar Pazirandeh (Class of 2008), who says, “Free Your Star aims to change the face of the fashion, film, photography, and magazine industries by providing financial resources and mentoring for urban youth and women.”
