Join us in NYC for three fun-filled days

Students, faculty, staff, alumni and family members will come together October 11 – 13 to enjoy LIM College’s third annual Friends & Family Weekend. Friends & Family Weekend provides an opportunity for parents, siblings -- and even grandparents -- to experience a slice of College life and spend quality time with each other.

Friday, October 11

Casino Night
7:00 – 10:00 pm at LIM College's Maxwell Hall
216 East 45th St. (between 2nd and 3rd Aves.)
Casino Night -- featuring our famous $5,000 “Drawdown” Raffle -- is almost here! Enjoy our recreations of Times Square, Chinatown, Little Italy and Harlem while you play Roulette, Texas Hold 'Em and Blackjack for the chance to win raffle prizes. Each “neighborhood” will have its own menu of favorite NYC foods.

Tickets for the $5,000 Drawdown Raffle are $20 and can be purchased at LIM FEF Raffle. You do not need to be present to win. Raffle tickets purchased online will be mailed to you.

Saturday, October 12
Morning

Breakfast and Private Shopping at Henri Bendel (online registration is closed)
712 Fifth Ave. (between 55th and 56th Sts.)
8:00 - 10:00 am
Registration Fee: $50 per person
Indulge in breakfast delights and enjoy a private shopping experience at one of Manhattan’s most iconic stores. The morning will also feature a trend presentation highlighting the hottest fashion accessories for the season.
*The registration fee of $50 entitles you to a $50 Henri Bendel Gift Card, which will be given to you the morning of the event and is for use during the event.

From Canvas to Catwalk: Fashion + Art
Explore and discover the relationship between iconic art and fashion through the ages to develop an awareness of the fashion cycle. By understanding fashion’s relationship to art, you will better understand how the billion-dollar fashion industry is cyclical, predictable and strategic. This program will include a museum visit.

Fashion and Architecture
Discover the syncopated rhythms of fashion and architecture. Explore the "spirit of the times" in New York City and see how architecture and fashion respond to similar influences. These two seemingly disparate fields intersect in more ways than you may realize. Intersections to be explored included Calvin Klein and Norman Foster, Alexander McQueen and Frank Gehry, and Michael Kors and SHoP Architects.

Afternoon

The Iron Merchant
LIM College's Maxwell Hall 216 East 45th St. (between 2nd and 3rd Aves.)
11:30 - 3:30 pm
Visual Merchandising students will be presented with a themed reality challenge in which they must showcase a specific product utilizing a mannequin and assorted materials and props within a one-hour time limit. Come cheer our contestants on and vote for the team that creates the best display. Lunch will be served. The winning team will be announced at 3:00 pm.

Creating a New You: Personal Style Makeover (registration closed)
Find affordable ways to create a stylish new you. Under the guidance of a seasoned personal image and make-over professional, you will learn to develop a sense of style that turns heads and gives your self-confidence a boost.
Instructor: Prof. Cheryl Overton
Time: 1:00 – 3:00 pm

Saturday Night

Manhattan Dinner Cruise
New York Pier 40, 353 West St.
Boat departs at 7:00 pm, boarding time is 6:30 pm
Tickets: $76.50 per person (originally $90, must input discount code LIM15)
Experience the excitement of New York City by night. This luxurious 3-hour cruise around Manhattan features a delicious 3-course meal, a DJ and dancing, and spectacular views of the New York City skyline and Statue of Liberty.

Broadway Show: Big Fish
Neil Simon Theatre, 250 West 52nd St.
8:00 pm
Tickets: $110 – Front Mezzanine (originally $142)
Based on the novel by Daniel Wallace and the acclaimed film directed by Tim Burton, Big Fish centers on Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman who lives life to its fullest… and then some! Featuring direction and choreography by 5-time Tony® winner Susan Stroman (The Producers), Big Fish stars two-time Tony winner Norbert Leo Butz (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels).

Sunday, October 13

Brunch with LIM College President Elizabeth S. Marcuse
