Refreshments will be provided!

Join the LIM College Book Club to discuss this month's selection, The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz. Diaz won the National Book Critics Circle Award and the Pulitzer Price for Fiction, as well as several other prizes--including being named "Best Novel of the Year" by New York Magazine--for his first novel, which is set in New Jersey and explores how life under dictator Rafael Trufillo has affected generations of Dominican-Americans. The book is narrated by Yunior de Las Casas, the protagonist of Diaz's first published work, the short story collection entitled Drown.

Diaz teaches creative writing at MIT and is very active in community organizations. He is loved for his muscular, funny writing that often combines street slang and Spanglish with beautifully rendered, poetic passages.

The book club will meet on Wednesday, November 11th at 6:15pm in the Adrian G. Marcuse Library. Refreshments will be served. For more information on the book club, contact library@limcollege.edu.
