Sheenisha Fierce crowned Miss LIM 2009

The 2nd annual Miss LIM drag show was a great success!

The 2nd annual Miss LIM drag contest was a resounding success, filling the evening with squeals of laughter, applause, and fierceness thick enough to cut with a knife. The drag show was sponsored by SLAB, LIM College's Student Life Activities Board, and produced by students Brooke Wright and Casey McKenna. The show was emceed by Miss Ariel Sinclair, who performed two songs, introduced all the contestants, and had a good time roasting random audience members. The show was judged by LIM College President Elizabeth S. Marcuse, Dr. Patricia Fitzmaurice, Professor Michael Palladino, Mark Kelleman, and Miss LIM 2008, Beverly Spanx.

The evening started with a performance by Miss Ariel Sinclair, who warmed the audience up with a hilarious and risque song about a particular part of the female anatomy. Surprise drag performances from Associate Vice President for Student Affairs Michael Sachs (aka Ethel Merman) and Associate Dean for Student Affairs Charles Pryor (aka Miss Candy Jones) had the students in stitches and ready for the contest. The first performer was Miss Blaise, who did an excellent rendition of "Mein Herr" from the musical Cabaret. She was followed by Miss Gabriela La Glam, who did a steamy chair dance sequence with a friend, also in drag, to Lady Gaga's "Boys Boys Boys." The house nearly came down when Sheenisha Fierce walked to Beyonce's "Crazy in Love," complete with dance moves from the video and legs a mile long.

After the drag performances, the New Legs in Motion Dance Team performed a choreographed routine to Chelley's "Took the Night."

Miss Ariel Sinclair then interviewed the contestants, beauty pageant style, and then the judges deliberated. Moments later, Miss LIM 2009 was crowned: congratulations Sheenisha Fierce! Miss Fierce will reign as Miss LIM 2009 until next year's contest.

For more information on Miss LIM, contact the Office of Student Life. The show was held at Branch, a lounge on E. 54th St. right next to LIM College's Center for Career Development. All proceeds went to support the AIDS Memorial Quilt.

Congratulations to all the performers and students. You were all fabulous!
