LIM College to Offer Professional Certificate Programs
Credit Certificate programs available in Visual Merchandising, Event Planning, and Retail Management: Buying & Planning. Advanced Certificates offered in Entrepreneurship and Fashion Management.
LIM College is launching new Professional Certificate programs designed for fashion industry professionals.
Having recently been reviewed and approved by the New York State Education Department, the LIM College Professional Certificate programs, which will begin in September of 2010, include both undergraduate Credit Certificates and Advanced (graduate) Credit Certificates. They will be offered through LIM College’s Center for Graduate Studies and Continuing Education, which is also home to the nation’s only MBA program with concentrations in Fashion Management and Entrepreneurship.
Offered in Visual Merchandising, Event Planning and Retail Management: Buying and Planning, the Credit Certificate programs, which consist of 12-15 credit hours of undergraduate-level courses, are designed for retail professionals who want to advance in their existing careers by gaining expertise in specialty areas, or for others who want to switch into or explore a new career path in the fashion world.
Advanced Certificate programs will be offered in Entrepreneurship and Fashion Management. Each Advanced Certificate requires 12 credits of graduate-level courses and participants must already possess a bachelor’s degree.
In announcing the new Professional Certificate programs, Elizabeth S. Marcuse, President of LIM College said, “In today’s economy, lifelong learning is key. Earning additional education credentials can provide advancement opportunities as well as increased job security. As the leader in fashion-related business education, LIM College is well-positioned to serve the educational needs of fashion industry professionals throughout the course of their careers.”
Professional Certificate programs can be completed in as quickly as 12 months on a part-time basis and credits earned in these programs may be able to be applied towards the completion of a graduate or undergraduate degree.
This is the first wave of Certificate programs that LIM College hopes to introduce. Plans call for programs in areas related to e-commerce, new media, and brand management to be added in future semesters.
