LIM College Introducing New Track in Home Fashions
Expansion of Fashion Merchandising curriculum will increase students' career opportunities
LIM College will expand its Fashion Merchandising curriculum to offer a new track in Home Fashions.
Starting in Fall 2013, students pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) or Bachelor of Professional Studies (BPS) in Fashion Merchandising will be able to select a track in either Apparel & Accessories or the new track in Home Fashions. Consisting of 27 credits, the Home Fashions track will give students a competitive edge when pursuing career paths within retail, manufacturing, brands, design houses, textiles, decorator showrooms, and sales offices that supply consumers with home fashions.
According to Michael Londrigan, LIM College’s Dean of Academic Affairs, “The expansion of our Fashion Merchandising curriculum to encompass home fashions reflects LIM College’s ongoing efforts to expand students’ career opportunities in fashion.”
Courses include: Home Fashions, Textiles for the Home, CAD for the Home, Product Development for the Home, Sales and Marketing for Home Fashions and a Senior Capstone course.
Londrigan continues, “An entire industry (with global sales of nearly $300 billion) is dedicated to understanding what products consumers want for their homes and creating the products they desire. Fashionable names such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Hermes, Diane von Furstenberg, Donna Karan, Vera Wang and other well-known brands all offer home furnishings lines. The students who select this track will be uniquely qualified to pursue careers in this rapidly-growing segment of the fashion industry.”
