Coming Out Day
Sign up for LIM College's "Out & Allies" List
October is Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Awareness Month at LIM College. For the third consecutive year, we plan to celebrate Coming Out Day on October 14 with the publication of an “Out & Allies List.” The list is a compilation of names of those who identify as LGBT or as an ally to the LGBT community.
We invite all members of the LIM community to participate by submitting your name to the Office of Student Life by Monday, October 12. Please indicate whether you wish to be listed as “Out” or an “Ally.” All members of the LIM College community are encouraged to submit their names to the “Out & Allies List.”
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Brett Cameron at email@example.com.
National Coming Out Day is an international event which gives gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people the opportunity to "come out" to others about their sexuality. It also provides a means of increasing the visibility of gay people. In the United States, the day is facilitated by the Human Rights Campaign's National Coming Out Project (NCOP). The first National Coming Out Day was held on October 11, 1988. This date was chosen for the annual event in commemoration of the 1987 March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights. It also marks the anniversary of the first visit of the AIDS Memorial Quilt to Washington, D. C.
