Clinical Assistant Professor
Sally J. Shapiro joined LIM College as an adjunct faculty member in 2003 and has been a full-time member of the College’s Fashion Merchandising Department since 2005, teaching a variety of courses including Fashion Fundamentals, Product Development, Licensing, Applied Concepts in Fashion Merchandising, Web PDM and the Senior Capstone.
She has extensive experience in both fashion and marketing, including a position as a Menswear Market Specialist for The Doneger Group, where she analyzed the branded men’s market and made buying and merchandising recommendations for clients that included Walmart, Sam’s Club, Sears, Nordstrom, and Top Shop. In the years following, she was a Sales Director for Farah Inc.'s Private Label Division, where Macy's Inc., J. Crew, Talbots and Jos. A. Bank were among her clients.
From 1985-1992, Professor Shapiro served as a Market Specialist and Product Manager for Frederick Atkins, analyzing and interpreting fashion trends in men’s apparel for national and international department and specialty stores including Dillards, Profitts, Bon-Ton and Gottschalks.
She has also worked as a Senior Account Manager for Cyrk, Inc., a promotional marketing agency whose clients included PepsiCo. and Phillip Morris.
Named to Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers for 2004-2005, Professor Shapiro is a member of the Direct Marketing Association, the American Marketing Association and Sigma Beta Delta. She holds a Master of Science degree in Integrated Marketing from New York University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Business Administration from the State University of New York at New Paltz.
When she’s not teaching, Professor Shapiro’s interests include hiking and photography.
