Fashion Now & Then

is a one-day symposium that will be held at LIM College on Saturday, April 9, 2011. Participants will discuss the past, present, and future uses of fashion information. Since fashion research draws upon many sources, the focus will be on challenges regarding the collection and preservation of fashion and related contextual information.

The symposium will consist of a keynote lecture by LIM College Professor Ron Knoth on Lester Gaba and two panel discussions with panelists and moderators drawn from the fashion industry, archives, museums, and libraries.

The event will take place on April 9,2011 in the LIM College Townhouse at 12 East 53rd Street between Fifth and Madison Avenues from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Lunch will be served. Detailed schedule available at http://fashionnowandthen.blogspot.com/p/schedule.html

We welcome all fashion enthusiasts and anticipate the symposium will be attended by librarians, archivists, students, professors, and fashion industry professionals. A nominal entrance fee of $35 will be charged and net proceeds will benefit the LIM Fashion Education Foundation. Register for the event here: www.eventville.com/limlibrary
