Fashion Merchandising: From Concept to Look Book, Course Description

Are you interested in starting your own fashion collection? From trend forecasting to creating color palettes to producing garments, this workshop will explore the role of a fashion merchandiser.

Students will create a fashion look book exploring their concepts!

What you will learn and do:

  • Interpret trends using industry forecasting tools
  • Create a mood board and color palette for an upcoming season
  • Build a digital look book presentation for your collection

 

Social Media: The New Fashion Experience, Course Description

Do you love fashion and have your finger on the pulse of the latest social media trends? With the rise of social media, brands are engaging with customers in new and exciting ways.

This 4-day workshop will focus on the impact of mobile on fashion marketing and will explore virtual and augmented reality marketing. 
 
What you will learn and do:  

  • Students will learn how to collect a range of data that determines what goes into an advertising campaign    
  • Students will learn how to create augmented reality advertising campaign    

Fashion Media: Making A Magazine, Course Description

Could you be the next Anna Wintour? Do you want to create the next must-read fashion blog?

In this creative and exciting workshop, students will create a digital fashion magazine filled with editorials and styled photos.  

What you will learn and do: 

  • Understand the roles of fashion, beauty, styling and content editors 
  • Brainstorm an overall vision and look for a digital issue  
  • Create a mockup concept for your digital magazine  

 

Creative Direction: Communicator of the Fashion Brand, Course Description

Do you have what it takes to be a Creative Director? From video campaigns to editorial photoshoots, a Creative Director is key to building a concept and bringing it to life!

This 4 day workshop will show you how to create a social media fashion campaign!  
 
What you will learn and do: 

  • Select and communicate the appropriate styling, creative direction, and photographic layout techniques for digital and video fashion campaigns  
  • Identify the spring/summer 2022 men’s and women’s fashion trends  
  • Analyze the role of the Creative Director within the creative team (art director, photographer, hairstylist, makeup artist and talent  
  • Create a digital editorial fashion campaign for social media by communicating a cohesive story for a fashion brand  

Business of Fashion (SPCE 1019) - 3 Credit Course

Course Description:

This course introduces students to the broad scope of the business of fashion, which includes the areas of fashion merchandising and marketing, visual studies and fashion media, styling and event management, sustainability, and entrepreneurship. Taught in units, students will learn by doing and experience the many facets of the business, while being guided by faculty who are industry experts in each discipline. Career opportunities will also be explored in this 3-week course. (Completion of the course will earn 3 credits that will be equivalent for FASH 1110). *Exception: Students pursuing a BBA in the Business of Cannabis will earn 3 elective credits.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of the course students will

  • Identify, describe, and examine the broad scope and areas across the business of fashion
  • Conceptualize and create presentation materials for a fashion business portfolio
  • Explore career opportunities in the business of fashion

Refund/Withdrawal:

Course withdrawal and refund of course fee requests must be made in writing through email to fashionacademy [at] limcollege.edu. The date of the written request is considered the official date of the student’s withdrawal. A $25 processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount. All refunds are made electronically and take up to two weeks for processing. In the event LIM College cancels a course, 100% of the tuition and fees are refunded. For withdrawals made at least a week prior to the first day a course begins, 100% of the tuition is refunded, minus the $25 processing fee. For withdrawals made less than a week prior to the start of the course, 50% of the tuition refunded, minus the $25 processing fee.

There are NO refunds given after the start of class.
