Screening of "Ultrasuede: In Search of Halston" to Kick Off Spring 2012 Fashion Insiders Series
Featuring a post-screening Q&A with the film's director, Whitney Sudler-Smith, fashion stylist Phillip Bloch, and legendary model Pat Cleveland
On Thursday, January 26 at 6:30 p.m. LIM College will kick off the Spring 2012 edition of its popular "Fashion Insiders" speaker series with a screening of the documentary Ultrasuede - In Search of Halston. It will be followed by a Q&A session with the film's director, Whitney Sudler-Smith, as well as legendary 1970s fashion model Pat Cleveland and fashion stylist Phillip Bloch, who both appear in the film.
The film is a fascinating portrait of the rise and fall of America’s first celebrity designer — Halston — the man who was synonymous with fashion in the 1970s, and became the emperor of NYC nightlife. Interviews with friends and witnesses (including Liza Minnelli, Diane Von Furstenberg, André Leon Talley, Anjelica Huston, Bob Colacello, and Billy Joel, among others) round out this glittering evocation of the man who defined the most beautiful and decadent era of recent memory.
This event is open to all LIM College students, faculty, staff, and alumni. However, seating is limited, so an RSVP is required via email to email@example.com
Featuring leaders in their respective disciplines, Fashion Insiders evenings provide LIM College students with special access to some of the most fascinating figures in the fashion industry. Fashion Insiders events are held at LIM College’s Townhouse at 12 East 53rd Street.
This semester's Fashion Insiders roster will also include author Susan Ashcroft (Will Work for Shoes) on Feb. 23 and Aliza Licht, Senior Vice President of Global Communications at Donna Karan, on March 22.
According to Michael Palladino, Director of Student Life, who coordinates the series, “Access to industry professionals is an important component of an LIM College education. Fashion Insiders events expose our students to people who, each in their own unique way, have made their mark on the fashion world.”
