DOMESTIC UNDERGRADUATE ORIENTATION

Congratulations on your acceptance and decision to attend LIM College!

  • August 29/August 30
    • Deadline to register for the event and sign-up for Orientation housing = August 6

NOTE: the materials deadline to be eligible to register for classes at Orientation is June 1. Before registering for classes, you must complete placement testing and/or submit one or more of the following items: AP scores, SAT/ACT scores, and/or final college transcript(s).

The New Student Orientation (NSO) program is the official welcome for all students and their families entering the LIM College community. Orientation is a required program. All students must attend one of the four orientation options available this summer. This is your first opportunity to be on campus as a new student! We encourage you to ask lots of questions, actively participate, become acquainted with new friends, and learn what will be expected of you as a member of the LIM community.

Important: During each orientation event, students will follow an exciting two-day schedule led by their Orientation Leader. Orientation days are designed to build community and excitement, to acclimate new students to the LIM College campus, and (of course) to select your first semester schedule of courses. We encourage you to register for as early a date as possible!

This year the schedule will be available via the Guidebook app. Click here for more information.

Parents and families will have a different one-day schedule (separate from their student), that is designed to address the questions and concerns specific to this population.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ORIENTATION

Congratulations on your acceptance and decision to attend LIM College!

International Student Orientation (ISO) will run from Monday, August 26, 2019 through Tuesday, August 27, 2019. This program is the official welcome for all incoming International Students to the LIM College community. Mandatory Check-in and Presentation Sessions take place during International Student Orientation (ISO).

Please note that International Students are REQUIRED to attend International Student Orientation (ISO). Students must make sure they have entered the United States by the start of ISO.

Immediately following International Student Orientation, those students who have not joined a previous summer orientation, should attend New Student Orientation on Thursday, August 29, 2019 through Friday, August 30, 2019. The New Student Orientation Program, in its entirety, is offered by the Division of Student Affairs in cooperation with many other LIM offices. The program includes various mandatory educational sessions and social activities to prepare international students to adjust to life at LIM, life in New York City, and life in the United States.

Mandatory New Student Check-In

Federal regulations require that newly-admitted international F-1 and J-1 students must report to the Office of International Student Services (iss@limcollege.edu) to confirm their arrival on LIM's campus for required government reporting and to understand important immigration regulations and procedures required of F-1 and J-1 students.

During the Mandatory New Student Check-in:

  • You will meet Kate Levy, Manager, International Student Services and Nilyufer Namazova, International Student Success Coach
  • You can ask questions about International Student Orientation and travel documents
  • You can ask questions about life at LIM College
  • You can ask questions about New Student Orientation (for all incoming first-year undergraduates): studentlife@limcollege.edu.

As a part of New Student Orientation, you will have access to Orientation Leaders (OLs). OLs are students, much like yourself, who serve as mentors and share their experiences and help new students navigate the New Student Orientation Program. As current students, they are ready to answer your questions about life at LIM and in NYC. The College's administrators and faculty will also be present throughout the day to answer questions and give advice about academic, co-curricular, and extra-curricular opportunities at LIM College.

There will also be a family orientation, running at the same time as New Student Orientation (on Thursday, August 29, 2019). Families will have the opportunity to speak with Academic Department chairs and learn more about departments that support LIM student success.

As a reminder, the first day of classes begins Tuesday, September 3, 2019.
