Adrian G. Marcuse and Maxwell F. Marcuse Scholarship Winners Announced

Sara Guananga of Garfield, New Jersey has been awarded LIM College’s prestigious Adrian G. Marcuse Presidential Scholarship, which provides full tuition for her senior year. Sabina Saliu of Bettendorf, Iowa has been awarded the College’s Maxwell F. Marcuse Founder’s Scholarship, which provides half of the tuition for her senior year.
Sara and Sabina were chosen for their scholarships, each of which is given to only one student annually, after a comprehensive and rigorous selection process that included a personal interview with LIM College President Elizabeth S. Marcuse. Candidates must also write an essay and have a GPA of at least 3.5 to be eligible for the awards. Adrian G. Marcuse was LIM’s president from 1972 – 2002. Maxwell F. Marcuse founded LIM in 1939.
Sara is a 2013 graduate of Garfield High School. She is majoring in Fashion Merchandising and has completed internships at TJ Maxx and Haskell Jewels. Currently, she is a Merchandising Operations intern at Saks Fifth Avenue. Her career goal is to become a buyer for that company or work in e-commerce.
Sara says, “Winning this scholarship means the world to me. It proves that my work ethic did not go unrecognized and is a reminder that hard work, dedication and passion will take you far in life.”
Sabina is a graduate of Pleasant Valley High School. She is also majoring in Fashion Merchandising and has had the opportunity to intern at Versace, Cotton Incorporated, Christian Louboutin, and Moschino. Her career goal is to become a creative director.
Says Sabina, “This scholarship means the world to me. It is a testament to how far I can go if I push myself. Not only did LIM motivate me, but they also supported me every step of the way.”
