C-suite Speaker Series: James Rhee, Executive Chairman and CEO of Ashley Stewart

James Rhee, Executive Chairman and CEO of Ashley Stewart, will be at LIM College on June 10 to speak to graduate students as part of the College's CEO Speaker Series.

About James Rhee
James Rhee is the Founder and President of FirePine Group, LLC (“FirePine”). Mr. Rhee also currently serves as the Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ashley Stewart, an iconic and global and multi-channel plus-size fashion brand with a market-leading social media and digital commerce footprint.

Founded in 2009, FirePine invests in special situations requiring structured capital and operational catalysts, with a particular expertise in the rapidly transforming, branded retail-consumer product industry.

As a successful investor, board member, and CEO, Mr. Rhee has a proven track record spanning nearly two decades in sourcing and creating asymmetric risk-returns by leveraging a diversified network and knowledge base in the private equity, restructuring and venture communities.

As Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ashley Stewart, Mr. Rhee has authored a paradigm-disrupting complement of algorithms, CRM and operational solutions that have transformed a twice bankrupt, unprofitable brick-and-mortar retailer with over decades of operating losses into a high growth, digitally driven business posting record profitability.

Mr. Rhee was able to secure a commitment from Clearlake Capital to back his strategy in an unlikely exit from Chapter 11 proceedings in April 2014. By forging relationships amongst his diverse contact base, Mr. Rhee has assembled a team that has propelled Ashley Stewart to become one of the most engaged retail brands on social media, installed Demandware to help support an explosive e-commerce channel, leveraged mobile and media to reinvent the real estate strategy, and driven explosive top-line and bottom-line growth. FirePine holds a significant investment in Ashley Stewart, Inc.

Mr. Rhee received his AB with honors from Harvard College and his JD with honors from Harvard Law School, where he was an editor of the Harvard Law Review.
