Expert Panels, Internship and Employment Opportunities, Networking and More at Career Day

LIM College's Fall 2014 Career Day, held on October 28, featured a full day of career-building activities. In addition to a traditional employment networking and internship fair, the day featured a series of specialized panel discussions featuring professionals from leading companies.

Panel discussions on “Careers in Cosmetics” and “Finding Your Path in Public Relations" included Shanna Weinblatt, Global Digital Marketing Manager for Aramis Fragrances and Laura Lapitino, Senior Manager of Public Relations at Elie Tahari, among others. Other panel discussions included “Making a Difference: Careers in Corporate Social Responsibility” and “Expand Your Horizons: Interning Outside of the NYC Area and Abroad.”

Senior Kayla Herman found the “Find the Job of Your Dreams: WWD Careers Information Session” to be especially helpful. “I never knew WWD offered such a service,” she said, “and it’s free. You just upload your resume and search for jobs and the leader of the session also told us how you can reach top fashion and retail employers.”

"Career day is all about the connections you make,” said senior Katrina Ralph. Attending a discussion on “How to Be a Successful Entrepreneur” with a keynote speech by Marci Weisler, Co-Founder of SWSI Media, Katrina said she learned a lot of tips to take the next steps when going into business.

This year’s event has some new components, including a red carpet and an LIM backdrop for photo ops and interviews. Winners of the Career Day Red Carpet Affair competition hosted, interviewed attendees, and reported on social media from the Career Fair.

Participating industry partners included Barneys New York, Bulgari, Gilt, Michael Kors and Calvin Klein, Inc.
