Fashion: Now & Then Exhibitor Shows Designs in Rio
August 18, 2016
Harry Umen, a professor at Southern New Hampshire University, and Mt. Ida College professor Laura McCarthy will exhibit their experimental dresses, which utilize textiles treated with digital dye sublimation printing processes and feature innovative shaping and draping techniques, at LIM College’s upcoming Fashion: Now & Then Conference.
Pieces from the line were shown at the Moda-Couture Olympiad Circus Fashion Show in Rio de Janeiro, which was held during the Olympic Games. Umen designs the fabrics using patterns from his own still-life photography and McCarthy designs and makes the garments.
The theme for the sixth annual Fashion: Now & Then Conference, which will take place October 20 - 22, 2016 is “Fashion as Art.” The event will bring together academicians and professionals from around the globe to explore the past, present, and future uses of fashion information.
