International Student Spotlight: Jay Pikulsawad

What do you like most about being an LIM College student?

I love that the courses are constantly challenging me. The professors are very knowledgeable and I don’t dread going to class. LIM also has so many different activities and events, which are great opportunities to network with professionals in the fashion industry.

What do you like most about being in New York City?

The energy of this city is incredible. It really is true that it’s “the city that never sleeps.” I feel so alive living here. I’m always running into new people and experiencing new things. New York inspires and motivates me to work hard and make my dreams come true.

Were you involved in any activities outside school during your first year at LIM?

Before I moved to New York, I worked as a personal shopper and fashion consultant for celebrities in Thailand. When I began my classes at LIM, I continued to work internationally by distributing eyewear to Thailand. I worked with fashion brands including Thom Browne, Dita, and Oliver Peoples.

What advice would you give to international students who may be thinking about coming to LIM College?

The most important piece of advice I have is to be brave. Don’t be afraid to connect with new people. More than likely they will be happy to talk to you about their experiences and guide you through any obstacles you may be going through.

Also, network with as many people as you can from cultures all over the world, it will greatly benefit you.
