LIM Alumna Interviews Former DKNY PR Girl Aliza Licht in Harper’s Bazaar
October 18, 2016
In the article Lauren Alexis Fisher (’14), associate digital editor for Harper’s Bazaar magazine, explains how she “chickened out” and attended the University of Rhode Island instead of coming to New York City to study fashion.
Feeling the dearth of fashion around her, she found salvation in following and tweeting people who were active in the industry in New York City, including Aliza who was then Senior Vice President of Public Relations at Donna Karan.
But instead of living vicariously through the fashion folks she followed on Twitter, Lauren decided to take the risk and after one year moved to New York City where she transferred to LIM College. After working with Alexis on a Twitter project for the 2012 Olympics she let the social media maven know that that she was applying for an internship in her department at DKNY.
Lauren says that if it wasn’t for Twitter she would never have gotten the internship, which led to other industry internships and her first fashion job at Harper’s Bazaar.
In the interview Lauren talks with Aliza about how to use social media to give yourself a competitive advantage.
