DID YOU MISS THE FASHION SHOW?
LIM College’s 73rd annual Fashion Show, "Colors of the World," was held at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan on March 24. Put on by the LIM Fashion Show Production Club, 40 models walked the runway during the event — drawing an audience of more than a thousand.
The stellar production gave students hands-on educational experience in planning and producing a professional-level New York City fashion show. Students were responsible for every aspect of the event, ranging from lighting and music to model selection.
This year’s celebrity host was LIM student and YouTube star Paige Secosky, who runs a successful fashion and beauty-focused YouTube channel with over 200,000 subscribers and 13.8 million channel views, as well as exclusive brand partnerships and collaborations.
Eighteen designers were featured, including Shaka King, Karen Millen, and Carlton Jones, as well as retailers Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale’s, and Barneys New York. Marjorie Lee Woo, Associate Chair of LIM’s Visual Merchandising department, even provided hats that she designed. Also instrumental in the organization of the event were faculty advisors Terance Coffee, Carlton Spence and Eurydice Sanchez.
For the third consecutive year, Carsten Institute of Cosmetology partnered with LIM College to execute the hair and makeup looks for the student models and the LIM College Dance Team, which opened the show.
Professor Sanchez says that the students were thrilled to hold their fashion show at the Hammerstein Ballroom, which is a classic New York venue and was the site for the Marc Jacobs Spring 2017 ready-to-wear show. She said, “The audience really seemed to enjoy this thoroughly unique presentation.”
