LIM College Students Win BRAG Scholarships

The Black Retail Action Group (BRAG) has awarded scholarships to four LIM College students for the 2014-2015 academic year.

The scholarship winners were announced at BRAG’s 44th Annual Scholarship and Awards Dinner Gala on October 21 at the New York Hilton Hotel in Manhattan. The gala, hosted by celebrity stylist and TV personality Lloyd Boston, was attended by hundreds of industry insiders, fashion VIPs, and retail executives.

BRAG is a non-profit organization that prepares and educates professionals, entrepreneurs and students of color for executive leadership in the retail, fashion and related industries. In 2007, a college chapter of BRAG was established at LIM.

BRAG scholarship recipients are selected based on scholastic achievement, leadership, community service, and need. As part of the application process, students also had to submit a 500-word essay on their education and career goals.

The LIM College students who will receive 2014-2015 BRAG scholarships are: Kaycee Dawson, Diamante Logan, Daisha Perez and Brandon Smithwrick.

Among the fashion business luminaries honored at this year’s BRAG gala were Edward Enninful, Fashion & Style Director of W magazine and Shawuan Johnson, Senior Vice President/GMM for Women's Apparel & Accessories at Tommy Hilfiger.
