LIM Professor is “The Color Theory Expert”
May 24, 2016
Marcie Cooperman, who teaches in LIM College’s Master of Professional Studies (MPS) in Fashion Marketing degree program, happens to be very knowledgeable about color theory and knitting. In fact, she’s “The Color Theory Expert.”
Earlier this year Professor Cooperman gave presentations at two international events, Vogue Knitting Live and the Yarn Market News Conference.
At Vogue Knitting Live, which is targeted to consumers, Professor Cooperman gave two presentations. The first, “How to See Color,” was on how knitters can use colors, how to describe them, and how to put together colors for knitting projects. The second, “Color and Texture Trends,” covered what the mood for knitwear will be in fall 2016 and how to translate that into knitted garments.
For the Yarn Market News conference, geared towards yarn shop owners, Professor Cooperman gave a lecture on color trends that explained what consumers are looking for this year and how to merchandise those colors, as well as style trends in knits.
Professor Cooperman also authored the first textbook on color theory, published by Pearson, titled Color: How to Use It. Her website, which features her own line of bespoke knits, is at http://marcie.wpengine.com.
