LIM Students Attend International Media Conference

LIM College Visual Merchandising students Joelle Wickner, Frances Mamiye, and Marissa Nanarone recently attended the PromaxBDA Media Conference in Manhattan as guests of Mark Valentine, Creative Director & Co-Owner of Anatomy Media Inc., an entertainment marketing and promotion agency.

This spring, Mark was a guest speaker in LIM College’s Advanced Display Graphics class and offered students a chance to see the “Hot Spots Showcase 2016,” an awards ceremony honoring the best TV promotions of the year that he hosted at the conference.

PromaxBDA is an international media member association representing more than 10,000 companies and individuals from major media organizations, marketing agencies, research companies, strategic and creative vendors, and technology providers.

While at the conference, the students also sat in on a BET (Black Entertainment Television) panel on underrepresented groups in marketing and advertising, as well as “State of Our Art 2016,” which focused on ways to re-invent and reinvigorate global marketing. They also attended a leadership panel, “The Art of Failure,” which explored how losing can be beneficial.

In addition, LIM students received professional feedback during a Student Creative Portfolio Review session.

Said Visual Merchandising faculty member Patti Jordan, “The students made an excellent impression on the professionals and learned a lot from the experience. Viacom was particularly encouraging to our students.”
