LIM Students Awarded $5,000 in Accessories Council Competition

This fall, LIM College partnered with the Accessories Council to launch a new course that taught students about launching an accessory brand/product. It was also a scholarship competition.

Throughout the semester, the class learned about the elements needed to start a successful accessory brand, including product development, marketing, public relations and social media.

For their final project, the students created a full-scale product plan which they could submit for scholarship consideration.

On December 5, seven students presented their projects to a panel of industry professionals (see list below) who judged them on the basis of innovation, entrepreneurialism, and creativity.

The students who were awarded scholarships are:

($3,000)
Rebecca Wieselberg for Changeover Eyewear - a transition lens that controls the tint of eyeglasses. The eyewear comes in stylish designs that are customizable.

($2,000)
Natalia Salinas for Care Bracelet - stylish medical ID bracelets for patients with conditions such as epilepsy, cardiac conditions, and allergies

LIM students Vidhi Chowdhari, Chauntel Gelles, Samaria McCullough, Veronica Rago and Naijah Richardson also presented their projects.
