LIM Students Help High Schoolers Sparkle for Prom

Project GLAM eventOn April 22, a group of LIM College students volunteered for an initiative to provide economically disadvantaged young women with prom dresses and accessories at no cost. The New York City event, Project GLAM, was attended by more than 1,700 young women hoping to find a dress for their high school prom.

The LIM volunteers were all members of the College’s National Retail Federation Student Association (NRFSA) or Student Life Activities Board (SLAB).  Among them were Mackenzie Allen, Erica Fouts, Jessie Karagosian, Victoria Montalti, Kyla Porcellini, Cesar Ramos, Kyra Singletary and Dana Wirchansky, as well as Fashion Merchandising professor Marla Greene.

Throughout the day, the team helped young women find their ideal dress, organized racks of donations, and helped with accessory and makeup selection.

"It was so fun and the perfect volunteer opportunity for us," said Jessie. "It combined our loves of philanthropy and fashion. And we got to relive a little bit of prom again!"
